Harbin to Yabuli ski resort on Highway G10 is 230km.
Highway G10 was easy to drive, and no snow or ice on the road. Took us about 3 hours to arrive in Yabuli and start to look for our inn. The town is tiny, and you can forget any 4-5-star hotels. Price 749CNY/night. The room was OK, with three double beds and a toilet, but it was hot and humid. You could not see from the windows because of the condensed water on the surface. There is no ventilation or temperature control in the room. This seems to be standard in northern parts of China.
The hostel had a nice restaurant in the basement, and the food was very big and tasteful. It was recommended to eat there as the village did not offer much. I did not like that several persons sleeping in the hallways at night made me feel uncomfortable.

Yabuli ski centre
At the Yabuli ski resort, You can rent ski coveralls, hats, and gloves from the guesthouse, and later at the ski slope, you can pick up your helmet, skiing goggles, and skis (included in the price). The guesthouse was very close to the slopes and took only 10 minutes to drive, so the hostel’s location was good. When renting, check the total prices. Here are some examples of our experience.
The first-day arrival 3h ticket, including all except the ski coverall, was 160CNY/3h. The next day, I found a cheaper rental with 90CNY/3h, but it did not include a helmet (80CNY) or ski goggles (30CNY). So, the more expensive one was cheaper in the end! Don’t believe in official prices; an app or hotel can get much cheaper. Also, coaches are available, and we rented one for 200CNY, which only includes one-time coaching downhill. Pricey, in my opinion.

- Also, if needed, they have soft paddings for beginners
- Included ski lift pass
Also, coaches are available, and we rented one for 200CNY, which only includes one-time coaching downhill. Pricey, in my opinion. She was excellent and had the patience with a person with zero skiing skills. It might be a good investment if you go for the first time.
There are many slopes in the area.
Family fun on the slopes. Thumbs up to wife; she tried but fell constantly, so she gave up and took the ski lift down. We only used the easy slope this time as it was the first time for the kids. We have only been to Finland during summer, so they don’t have any experience with cold or snow. One liked it a lot, and the other one went one time. Two of us skied the whole 3 hours on both days, and Yabuli Ski Resort was a great experience. I decided with my daughter to take it easy and concentrate on the technique instead of daring to the more challenging slopes. This is a good starting point for the next time. I fully recommend the slopes in the Ski Resort but don’t have any information on the restaurants and hotels at Peak 3 if they are any good.
Fun always ends
Having skiing for two days was fun. My youngest daughter and I enjoyed the slopes, and the elder daughter and mother stayed in the ski centre, waiting for us to be ready. The slopes were in good condition, and the ski lifts took us safely.
Let’s head for the most famous Snow town in China.
