We got our towing bar fixed and can continue the road trip. We headed for the city of Jinjianggou and, on the way, stopped at some interesting sightseeing places.
Stopped WW2 memorial on the way, Nuomenhan Battle Relic Site Exhibition Hall
Nuomenhan Battle Relic Site Exhibition Hall. A shortstop at a big battleground memorial where the Russian and Japanese forces battled for 135 days. More than 200.000 soldiers, 500 cannons, 900 planes, and 1000 tanks fought fiercely in this area. Let this be a memory of how cruel war can be. Young people born after the war cannot imagine this.
The worst road we have ever driven in China
The worst road we took during our trip was near Jin Jiang Gou camping and A’ershan National Forest Park. It was 50km of pure pain and torture for our car and caravan. The maximum speed is 30km/h and even slower in some parts. Heavy trucks and buses pass us, and we wonder how the passengers feel bouncing around. The new road is being built beside it, and the old one is not maintained much anymore. I hope this is ready in 2022 so others don’t need to experience this. The car and the caravan finally survived this torture and now setting up the camp. We were ready quite late and needed to prepare and rest for the next day’s activities.
Help on the road, in case of emergency
Don’t expect people to stop for assistance on the road in China. Here are some numbers to call but be wary that the English language might be limited
Here is a good link to why it is so.
Police 110
Fire Alarm 119
Emergency center 120
Traffic accident 122
Telephone inquiry 114
Notice:
1.110, 119 and 120 are the most used emergency calls, they are all free calls. Call 110 when you meet common criminal or public order cases, or emergencies and need help. Call 119 when there is a fire breaking out. Call 120 when you need emergency care and first aid.
2.12395 is the national SOS call for maritime accidents. On the sea, once the boat encounters a collision, stranding, fire, man overboard, sudden disease outbreaks or other accidents which need help, can call the Maritime Search & Rescue Center.
3.114 is a very important number, for even though you can’t remember any other numbers, you can dial 114 to look up the numbers you need. It provides telephone number enquiry information enquiry service. Users can also look up the timetable of the train and coach, information on weather forecasts, lunar calendars, special restaurants, etc.

The worst road that I have driven in China
Great campground, Jin Jiang Gou camping in Inner Mongolia
After bouncing on the road for a few hours, we arrived at the Jin Jiang Gou camping. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well-maintained it was. Excellent space for the caravan with electricity and water + small wooden terrace with bench and table. It was already late when the caravan had been set up, We had a quick dinner and headed to bed.
We could see the stars, there was no pollution in the air. It’s almost impossible in Shanghai or other bigger cities. I’m still struggling with my camera. I don’t remember the settings and always get blurry pictures. I need to watch many more YouTube videos.
The nearby village did not have so much to offer
Some small shops, and local restaurants and the main thing is that there is a gasoline station at the end of the road.
Be reminded to fill the gasoline tank in Jin Jiang Gou as the distances between gasoline stations get longer.
The next day, we had a full day at A’ershan National Forest Park, rated in 2017 as an AAAA tourist destination. The air quality index of Arxan is a breath of clean air. The park is close to the campsite, and the main entrance is only 500m away. As usual, I climbed the thousands of stairs and enjoyed the views. The place is well maintained, and the stairs have several platforms where you can take a rest. Inner Mongolia has been a positive surprise in all ways—especially nature which stands mostly untouched. I hope the tremendous amount of tourism will not destroy this. During our trip, we did not see many tourists anywhere. This is mostly because locals don’t have the same holidays as foreigners. The long summer holiday in China is not so typical. More concentrated on Chinese New Year and harvest holidays.
