Manzhouli, port entry to Russia
We will not go to Russia, but this city is a port of entry to Russian trade. Donghu, Xiongnu, Xianbei, Khitan, Jurchen, Mongols, and Manchu inhabited this city.
In 1992, Manzhouli became one of the first land border cities in the People’s Republic of China. It has since experienced a boom as a border trade centre between China and Russia.
I checked a little bit in advance where to go in Manzhouli, and the clear winner was the Russian circus at Matryoshka Scenic Park with many of the famous Matryoshka nesting dolls.

Matryoshka Square (In Russian Taowa Square)
This unique and amazing park is full of giant Russian matryoshki (nesting dolls), some with pictures of famous historical people. The biggest doll is actually a hotel. A Russian circus performs daily at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM (extra ticket required), and there is a special dance and light show at 9:00 PM. You can take Bus 10 along Huabu Dajie, which passes the international bus terminal and the doll park and ends at the Russian border area and scenic zone, Guómén
